Projects & Configuration

Learn how to create projects, add URLs to monitor, and configure exactly what changes you want to track.

Getting Started

How do I create a new project?

From your dashboard, click the "New Project" button. Enter a name for your project (e.g., "My Website" or "Client Site A"). Once created, you can start adding URLs to monitor immediately.

How do I add URLs to a project?

Open your project and click "Add URL". Enter the full URL including the protocol (e.g., https://example.com/page). You can also set a custom check interval at this stage.

Can I pause monitoring for a project?

Yes! In your project dashboard, you'll see a pause/resume toggle. When paused, no checks will be performed and no usage will be consumed. This is useful during planned maintenance periods.

Tracking Options

Search Sentinel can monitor a wide range of on-page and HTTP-level elements. Configure these in Project Settings → What To Track Setup.

Robots.txt Monitoring

We check your site's robots.txt file regularly. Any changes are saved with a full history so you can compare versions and see exactly what changed.

HTML Content Elements

Track changes to critical SEO elements:

  • Meta Title
  • Meta Description
  • H1 Heading
  • Canonical URL
  • Meta Robots Tag
  • JSON-LD Structured Data
  • Open Graph Title (og:title)
  • Hreflang Tags
  • Noscript Content
  • Link Counts (Total & Nofollow)

HTTP Headers

Monitor server-level responses:

  • HTTP Status Code
  • X-Robots-Tag Header
  • Content-Type Header
  • Link Header (preconnect, etc.)

Bulk Operations

Can I update settings for all URLs at once?

Yes! Go to Project Settings → Bulk Intervals & Alerts. From there you can:

  • Set a global check interval (minutes, hours, or days)
  • Configure alert destinations (Email, Slack, MS Teams) for all URLs
  • Enable/disable specific alert triggers in bulk

Code Snippet Monitoring

What is Code Snippet Monitoring?

You can define specific HTML snippets that should exist on your pages—like Analytics tracking codes, Facebook Pixels, or custom scripts. Search Sentinel will alert you if these snippets disappear or change.

How do I add code snippets?

In Project Settings → What To Track Setup, click "Bulk Add Code Snippets". You can add multiple snippets that will be monitored across all URLs in the project.
