Core Web Vitals & CrUX
Measure real-user experience with data directly from Google's Chrome User Experience Report (CrUX).
Core Web Vitals
These metrics are part of Google's ranking signals. We automatically pull this data for every monitored URL so you don't have to manually check it every Monday.
Largest Contentful Paint
Measures loading performance. It
marks the point in the page load timeline when the page's main content has likely
loaded.
Good: ≤ 2.5s
Interaction to Next Paint
Measures responsiveness. It observes
the latency of all user interactions (clicks, taps, and key presses) throughout the
lifespan of a user's visit.
Good: ≤
200ms
Cumulative Layout Shift
Measures visual stability. It
quantifies how much elements move around on the page while it is loading.
Good: ≤ 0.1
CrUX Thresholds
Customizing "Good" vs "Poor"
While Google has standard recommendations, your specific app might have different needs. In Project Settings → CrUX Thresholds, you can override the default values.
For example, if you are optimizing a very heavy application, you might temporarily set your "Good" LCP threshold to 3.0s to avoid constant alerting while you work on improvements.
Mobile vs. Desktop
Search Sentinel allows independent configuration for different form factors. Mobile thresholds are often set higher (more lenient) due to variable network conditions compared to Desktop.
Regression Alerts
Don't wait for your scores to turn "Poor". Use regression alerts to spot negative trends early.
Week-over-Week (WoW)
Triggers if the current metric is X% worse than it was 7 days ago.
Month-over-Month (MoM)
Triggers if the current metric is X% worse than the average of the last 4 weeks.
"Good" Proportion Drop
This is a critical alert. It triggers if the percentage of your users having a "Good" experience falls below your set threshold (e.g., drops from 90% to 70%).
